KemirochParticipantWhat a horrible day it has been
” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif” /> My brain hasn’t even processed it all yet. I can’t imagine what it will be like when it finally hits me for real.Rest in Peace, man.
If anyone is planning a tribute pack, I will gladly contribute.

MrPrezidentModeratorRIP Tom!
Definitely doing a tribute song, if anyone else is doing one please PM me so we don’t end up doing the same song.

nsw1-6ParticipantAs awful as the news is, now they’re saying he’s not dead, but they took him off of life support. I’m confuse.

BansheeflyerModeratorYeah reports are still very conflicting. I’m gonna wait until something is officially released but either way, man, today sucks.

SideshowParticipantIt just seems like every month for the past 2 years there has been a inspirational musician passing away. A few weeks ago Grant Hart, drummer of Husker Du passed away which was a huge influential punk/alternate drummer to me. I just want to shut off social media to avoid all these terrible deaths.

The brain activity stopped and the family don’t want the hospital to try any ressurection method, because the chances to him come back were almost inexistent.; -(

AtruejediParticipantOne of my earliest musical memories is hearing Mary Jane’s Last Dance (and CCR and Phil Collins and Billy Joel and Steve Winwood… thanks for most of those, mom!). At the time I was too young to know Mary Jane could mean marijuana, but once I learned that, the song became even cooler because it was so subversive to me, whether that euphemism actually applied or not. Petty made some cool tunes. Cheers to the loss of a great songwriter.

(we need a cheers emoji!)

ws54ParticipantSad day. I only did one song by him – Room at the Top. Only 180 downloads in the 6 months it has been available. People don’t know what they are missing. The song always brought a tear to my eye, but today it had different meaning.

AJFOne23ParticipantHe’s still alive. Reports of his death were premature. Apparently though he’s in the hospital.

In a way, Harmonix did us a favor by insisting on using live versions of most of his songs. Perhaps we’ll get a few of the studio versions in the database soon… so there’s a silver lining to his (supposed?) death, but I can’t help but feel cynical saying that.

Unfortunately, his death was announced about 4 hrs ago after the misunderstanding from earlier in the day. The silver lining is that maybe people will look deeper into his catalog now and discover the many remarkable gems of songs that were not hits.
