      Here’s the song:

Relevant bit is in 0:50 onwards, from “you and me” until the end of the chorus.

Might seem silly but the whole full band custom is ready and this harmony line is the only thing holding it back. Just can’t figure it out!

      Thanks <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

For me, it is earier to hear on this live version:

Basically, a single harmony is added, starting at a third interval below the lead vocal stem. But I agree it is hard to hear, considering how the vocals are mixed… Maybe someone like Atruejedi could help you out better.

I, too, hunt for live/acoustic versions of songs to “draw out” harmonies I can’t readily hear. Recently I’ve been hitting up so many different recordings of My Silver Lining by First Aid Kit to try to get it as perfect as it can be, but I’m still not 100% satisfied with it.

That being said, I’ve never heard this song until this post, but I’m more than happy to help you find that harmony if you still need help after checking out some live/acoustic performances. If you’ve already got the melody tubes down, send me your relevant files and I’ll figure it out tomorrow (Tuesday) night with some headphones and send it back promptly.

Thanks! I’ve been looking at live versions but they weren’t very helpful. However this acoustic one is really good, much less noise (It actually helped me find a mistake I had in the verse harmony, I thought I had it…). I’ll try working on it soon and see if I can nail it.

Although this version does give me a new problem – my chart only has keys in the chorus, because only then I can actually hear them. This acoustic version includes keys in the verse too. Now I have to wonder if it’s buried in the studio version somewhere haha, or if it’s just added live. Can’t hear it anywhere!

When it comes to “ghost” harmonies, I’d say don’t include them. I realize that isn’t relevant here, but I just thought I’d mention it in case anybody finds this later. I had that issue with MoneyGrabber by Fitz and the Tantrums; live versions clearly had a different harmony, but I can’t expect somebody to sing something they can’t hear.

HOWEVER. I totally am all about a ghost keys part, since a person can press buttons (especially pro keys!) as directed. So I say go for it and include it in the verse if it sounds like it could go there. I’m actually doing that myself with My Silver Lining by First Aid Kit; I can’t hear a keys part at all, but one exists on YouTube and it sounds perfectly natural as pro keys, so I’m including it.
