I appreciate your work, but can you change the way you use/compile the audio in magma. Your single audio file songs are massive in size. Metallica – Hate Train is 25MB. I downloaded it and de-compiled with MagmaC3, then rebuilt it using just the single backing track wav (which is huge itself at 75MB, given my CD wav rip is only 37M:cool: and used the MagmaC3 right click option for stereo silence tracks for the instruments and blank dryvox track. Using magmaC3 audio quality of 5, the final con file was only 8MB.
Even your “Megadeth – Sweating Bullets” multitrack at 75MB is larger than the usual Harmonix multitrack of about 30-40MB.
I do everything that you’ve done in magma, but I always use 10 in audio quality and to render .wav files, I use these options in Reaper:
So if anyone gimme a tip to make smaller con files without loosing quality, I can use them for the following releases!
When I used your 70MB backing track in magma and set audio quality to 10, I got a con file of 19MB still less than 25MB. I only use one wav file in magma. Are you sure you’re only using one wav file for backing track? And the magma silence options for instruments?
I render a source mp3 in reaper either 320-192k, I don’t remember the settings, default probably, and I get a ~40MB wav and in game they sound as good as hmx songs. Most of the C3 & forum songs are 3-8MB and they all sound great. Maybe try magma quality 5, and compare.
Yes! I use “stereo44” to non-multitrack stems, and I render audio file in Reaper as .wav (not mp3) so I don’t what I’m doing wrong…
I rendered my next release in two ways, one using quality 10 (gives me a 13mb con file) and another with quality 5 (gives me a 5mb con file) so I’ll start to use quality 5 in magma for my next customs and re-build all the other ones when a get time to it!
