December 9, 2014 at 5:37 am #434084Well I tried adding the 2 songs via merged songs folder and successfully assigned new ids. Yet both still gave me the unable to play skipping. Odd.
I’ve been reading more of these issues with legit songs from Xbox users in the forums, and often reinstalling the dlc or deleting the Xbox RBC “cache” is tried. I’ve deleted, reinstalled, converted, and changed ids of these 2 legit ps3 songs many times with no avail. Is there a cache/score cache or something that I can delete on ps3 to prevent me from going back to square one with my songs?
December 9, 2014 at 6:18 am #434088Is there a cache/score cache or something that I can delete on ps3 to prevent me from going back to square one with my songs? No. If there was we would have had Setlist Manager support a long time ago. That’s where the new feature in the upcoming release of C3 CON Tools helps out PS3 users.
As far as your particular problem, I really can’t be of any more help. My advice is limited by the fact that I don’t own a PS3. I keep saying it over and over just to remind folks that I’m working in the dark here with anything I do for the PS3 peeps
Maybe something to discuss with the RBHP people? As an Xbox user, our save all is deleting the song cache. Then the game loads everything from scratch. If the problem persists, then it’s a problem with the file. If you’ve removed the two songs, and you have x amount of songs in your game, and those x amount of songs all work fine. And then you add two songs, and the game now shows x + 2 amount of songs, and all other songs still work except for those two new songs, then the problem is with those two files. There’s just no other explanation.
December 9, 2014 at 5:29 pm #434097Now that the song_ID feature is working properly, I have a question.
What’s the proper way to UPDATE a custom on the PS3 when they receive bug fixes or improvements without screwing up the associated song_ID?
Would you…
1. Manage the DTA and remove the song
2. Delete the song folder
3. Remerge the updated song
4. Transfer to PS3
This would presumably give the song a new ID, but the old one would be deleted in the process.
Is there something easier?
December 9, 2014 at 5:34 pm #434098Unfortunately, that’s not going to be a smooth process. That’s why ideally authors will begin creating songs with numeric IDs, so when they update the songs, the update keeps the old numeric ID.
As a PS3 user, or anyone else manually doing this. You’d have to get the numeric ID from the old version of the song, and manually put that into the DTA of the new song. Otherwise it’ll get a new ID assigned and you’ll lose the scores.
December 9, 2014 at 6:04 pm #434099So assuming the author starts with a numeric ID, and updates a song….
Is the process as simple as just copying over the song folder to the PS3 and not touching the DTA?

Not sure what you mean. If the updated song only updates the contents, but not the metadata (what is on the DTA), then you should be fine with just moving the contents over to the PS3 and keeping the old DTA entry, as long as you make sure everything will work.

Yes, my assumption is that metadata was untouched.
However, that is probably not practical.
My guess is the safest approach is to edit the DTA and re-merge (just in case).
If an update to the song was made, what are the odds that the DTA has data in it that also was changed?
So is all this complication (ID’s, DTA’s, etc) specific to PS3, and NOT XB360?
December 9, 2014 at 6:18 pm #434102So is all this complication (ID’s, DTA’s, etc) specific to PS3, and NOT XB360?As a PS3 user, or anyone else manually doing this. It’s really a problem for anyone who is manually assigning numeric IDs to customs. Then it’s up to you if you’re updating a song. Luckily, full band songs rarely get updates, so it’s not a huge deal. Once authors start doing it, and the song has a numeric ID from the start, then it won’t be a problem.
December 9, 2014 at 10:53 pm #434109k, is there someone interested in starting/maintaining a forum thread for the “RBHP on PS3” discussion (and eventual links/guids/etc)? I’m trying to chip away at getting a board ready while working on this week’s release, but I don’t mind giving someone access if they want to get a jump-start on a thread.
December 10, 2014 at 2:30 pm #434133I’ll volunteer to maintain the RBHP on PS3 thread. started compiling a semi-howto based on the contents of this thread which I was planning to post anyway, so that goes hand in hand.

the info on page 1 is pretty simple if you ask me, but here it is repeated and condensed into 8 steps:
1) ftp into your ps3 and copy /dev_hdd0/game/BLUS30463/USRDIR/HMX0756/songs/songs.dta to your computer. I suggest saving this somewhere safe so you’ve always got it as a backup.
2) download and unarchive C3 Con Tools to a new folder on your desktop
3) open the C3 Con Tools folder that you just extracted and click on the C3 Con Tools program. Then click on PS3 Converter. it’ll prompt you for a couple of things – just hit OK. This will create the basic ps3 folder setup.
4) go back to the C3 Con Tools folder, enter the ps3 folder, and then the “merged songs” folder. put a copy of the songs.dta file from #1 here.
5) for any song you want to install, you’ll have a .rar file. Open up the C3 Con Tools folder, then the PS3 folder, then the “Songs To Merge” folder. This is where you’ll put that newly extracted rar – it should be a directory that contains its own (single) songs.dta file and another subdirectory. if you’ve got WinRAR installed, the easiest way to do this is usually to move the rar file here, then right click and choose “Extract to “.
6) repeat step 5 for any other songs you want to install. note that each one will be in its own separate folder inside “songs to merge” and each will have its own songs.dta file and subfolders inside that.
7) from C3 Con Tools PS3 converter, click on Tools -> Merge songs. This should merge everything from #5/#6 into the “merged songs” folder. This does the magic of merging the songs.dta files and all that.
copy everything from the “merged songs” folder to /dev_hdd0/game/BLUS30463/USRDIR/HMX0756/songs/ on the PS3, overwriting anything that already exists.
December 11, 2014 at 6:18 am #434194Thank you, worked fine.
