March 2, 2014 at 4:58 pm #414959I don’t have any methods to even download the DLC on my PS3 since wifi and ethernet is absolutely broken on the PS3. If you have any ideas to fix it then that would be great.
This is a legit question. How to pirate stuff is not.
March 2, 2014 at 4:59 pm #414960Alright fair enough. I’ll look into purchasing another PS3. Sorry for the trouble I’ve caused. Is there any updates on fixing the pausing for the custom songs?
March 2, 2014 at 5:06 pm #414961Yes, yesterday’s release of C3 CON Tools now has that fixed. You’ll have to give TDCMark some time to re-up the fixed songs to the DB or you can use the PS3 converter yourself in the meantime.
March 3, 2014 at 2:09 pm #414997Hi guys,
thanks so much for realising customs on PS3 and for the amazing PS3-converter! I don’t think it’s useless work like anyone said here…
Because I have collected so much HMX-DLC for my PS3 game there was no way to turn to XBOX360. So I decided to switch to PhaseShift in the past.
But with the possibilities you gave me I want to start jailbreaking my PS3 now.
I’m from germany and use a PAL device. But on the other hand I use the US-versions of all RockBand games including all dlc and import-keys. Of course, I have an US account to purchase DLC (otherwise the DLC wouldn’t work with german DLC).
That’s why I’m a bit confused on how to jailbreak my console the best way for using customs in RockBand 3 (US).
Do I have to care about encrypting anything to play the customs or can I easily convert the rb3cons to PS3 with your converter and transfer it to my console, because I’m using the US-version of RockBand?
And which CFW should I install on my PS3 to get the best results? As I read it should be “Rebug 4.21” but does that count for my PAL-PS3 with the US game as well?
Thanks in advance for your help! ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
March 3, 2014 at 8:17 pm #415019Since you’re using the NTSC version of the game and NTSC DLC, you should have no problem installing customs! I recommend using the latest version of C3 CON Tools to convert CONs to the PS3 format using the “PS3 Converter” option, as currently the PS3 versions on the database are an old format that do not allow pausing (I will be fixing that shortly).
As for jailbreaking your PS3, it all comes down to what model of PS3 you have (from what I’ve read, your PS3 is NOT jailbroken already correct?). I’m no expert on the subject of jailbreaking, but you can only install Custom Firmware (CFW) on 3.55, which means you have to downgrade to that firmware. Downgrading means you need a hardware flasher. Off hand I can tell you that the new 4xxx Super Slim series and the Slim model 3xxx series can NOT be downgraded unfortunately.
Like I said, I’m not an expert on jailbreaking, so best to read this guide if you need more info.
If you do have a 3xxx/4xxx model PS3, you may want to look into a ODE (Optical Drive Emulator) such as the 3k3y or the Cobra ODE. This still requires hardware modifications however.
March 3, 2014 at 11:36 pm #415038FOR ALL PS3 USERS: The pausing and practice mode bug has been fixed! The last two weeks of customs should be on the database in the next hour! Hooray! I’ll update the original thread to note which weeks are fixed, and which ones are not. Also, if a song isn’t fixed on the database, feel free to grab the CON file and use the PS3 Converter yourself.
Moving on…After seeing this…
My PS3 since wifi and ethernet is absolutely broken on the PS3.dang…my ps3 is banned….And realizing that it really isn’t a good idea to be going online with a CFW…I bring good news! Take a look at the original post, and you’ll find “Initial Setup: Option 2”. This should allow for customs without having to go online to download the pack ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” /> If you need a way of moving stuff on to your PS3 and can’t use wifi/ethernet (*hint*007shinobi*hint*), you should be able to with MultiMan or Comgenie’s Awesome Filemanager.
For PAL users: I’ve updated the section so the installation of customs is clearer. I may have discovered a method that would do away with this section all together, but I would need someone with the PAL version of RB3 to verify. If anyone would be willing to do a simple test for me, please let me know! Like I said, it would make customs on the PAL platform WAY easier.

Thanks for your quick reply!
I have a PS3 with modell code CECH-2104A, which means I’m on the safe side on jailbreaking it.
And thanks for your hints regarding jailbreaking a PS3, but I think that will not be a big thing to me to be done.
The only thing I want to know is which CFW would be the best to be installed to run RockBand 3 the best way.
Shall I use “Rebug 4.21” or doesn’t it matter which CFW I use to run RockBand 3 with custom songs support?
And thanks again for your great work!
March 4, 2014 at 8:21 pm #415076Ah my apologies, never answered that part of your question. Doesn’t matter which one you use really. When I had my CFW PS3, I preferred being on the highest CFW, so that I could use a program like PSNpatch to go back on the PSN store. I think Rogero makes a 4.55 CFW, and I’ve never had problems with Rogero in the past, so I’d go with that one.
Edit: Here’s a link to it: http://psx-scene.com/forums/content/rog … -cfw-4183/
March 5, 2014 at 10:00 am #415100I guess, using the highest CFW would be necessary, because I need to download my purchased DLC from the PSN store…
So Rogero 4.55 sounds good to me! ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
I will leave a message when it’s done and RockBand 3 (hopefully) works fine on my PS3…
By the way: Do you have a substitude for your broken PS3 now?
March 5, 2014 at 10:38 am #415102Good stuff, make sure you use something like PSNpatch to be on the safe side ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
I bought a 3k3y for my Slim, I’m just waiting for it to be installed (I don’t have any experience with solder, otherwise I’d do it myself). Should be back and running in a few days!
March 6, 2014 at 11:28 am #415155So it’s possible to play custom songs with a PS3 just modified by a 3K3y?
That would give PS3 owners with CHECH-3xxx and above (slim & super-slim) the possibility to play custom songs as well.
If so, good to know…
March 6, 2014 at 5:12 pm #415173In theory it should work. Our DLC files are pretty damn close to official HMX files, and it is possible to access the internal file system with a 3k3y.
If it doesn’t work…then I just wasted a lot of money. The guy installing it told me he’s finally starting on it today, and it should be done for tomorrow. So fingers crossed ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
March 6, 2014 at 6:46 pm #415188Hello there!
I have question about pause/resume fix. I understood that now with new C3 CON tools you can convert .con files, I tried it and it works fine, but does it also work if you convert ps3 ready files from “songs to merge” to “Merged songs” folder?
March 6, 2014 at 6:50 pm #415190No it does not. Sorry. You’ll have to reconvert those songs or download them again when TDCMark gets the fixed ones uploaded.
March 6, 2014 at 10:57 pm #415203Yeah sorry, just the way it is. I’ve moved the Song Fix Status to the top of the thread though to make it easier to see where I’m at. Currently I’m at the latest release to beginning of December. Unfortunately my upload speed is SUPER slow…but I’ve been able to get 3 weeks done a day, so it shouldn’t be long until they’re all fixed ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
