Well yeah, for me it’s always much easier to download xbox .con files, and put them in PS3/CONS folder, check merge files and that’s it. If you download PS3 .rar files, you need to make separate folders for each song, so it’s much faster that way and more organized.
August 3, 2014 at 7:24 am #426231I’m having problem with the song Steve Ouimette – La Marseillaisa, gives me unable to load song skipping error. Tried to convert normal and with type 2 10 second, still gives me same error.
August 5, 2014 at 12:26 pm #426351^ i have the same problem with 1979 – Smashing Pumpkins….did anyone else get that working? (I tried converting with type 2 as well, still no luck though…)
August 6, 2014 at 2:25 am #426379I’m asking as I’m not sure what the current state of PS3 custom songs are, if anything has changed regarding playability.
Is it possible to pause or utilize practice mode sections in a PS3 custom yet?
I’m looking into getting a 360 for customs but I would sadly need to purchase peripherals for it too, which can run a pretty penny. If PS3 customs are more than good enough however, I wouldn’t have a problem with buying a used CFW-able PS3 (which would be cheaper than a 360 + old RB3 + drumset).
August 6, 2014 at 7:21 am #426389Yes, you are able to use practice mode and you can pause songs as well.
That issue has already been fixed by TrojanNemo for a pretty long time ago.
August 7, 2014 at 1:30 am #426465Quick Question, Is there a limit on custom songs within RB3? i have about 382.
i recently hit an issue where RB3 freezes after loading the “410 downloadable content”
Im thinking it might be an issue with corrupted files within the folder but im not sure how to determine that. i was fine before i just recently added an additional 170 songs.
August 7, 2014 at 1:46 am #426469Max on Xbox is 2952, and I believe the same for PS3, although I don’t know anyone on PS3 who has gotten there to confirm it.

Do I just install the files as documented in the OP or is it a different method?
Also, I’m very new to the concept of a CFW PS3. A lot of links I see say you do not need a hardware mod to install CFW so long as the PS3 is on 3.55 or less. Is this true? As in, could I go purchase a 3.55 PS3 and start up CFW without any modding necessary?

It’s true, you don’t need any hardware modifications if you can get a PS3 on 3.55 or lower. But remember, you have just one bullet to install the CFW the right way cause you will not get back if the installation won’t work.
The hardware modifications are necessary to flash the OFW if it’s higher than 3.55 or a CFW gets broken.

How often does a CFW installation fail? And what would cause it to fail?
August 7, 2014 at 9:59 am #426509Hard to say in general.
I had an issue with my installation and had to reinstall my system.
My PS3 couldn’t save savegames. It was caused by a broken CFW installation how I discovered after endless investigations at the internet.
So I had to get the system back to OFW 3.55 run a chip fix and re-installed the Rogero CFW.
After that the system worked fine and I don’t have any problems so far.

I see. Is this something that has to be applied when still on official firmware or could I get someone to mod it for me if an issue ever arose in the future?
I’m sorry if my questions are easily known things, my experience with CFW in general is messing with the Homebrew Channel on Wii and flash/temp-CFW on PSPs, both of which are a lot less risky and easier to install/maintain it seems than CFW on a PS3.
I wouldn’t be using the PS3 for backups or anything, maybe down the road to play PS2 disks if it can do that. I was originally going to get a 360 + drumset, but the drums would’ve had to have been used and it would’ve been RB1 or 2 drums, both of which significantly frailer than the drums I use on PS3.
A 3.55 PS3 seems to be a much cheaper option, especially considering I already have peripherals for the console.
August 7, 2014 at 3:28 pm #426532If I were you I would buy a used PS3 that can be downgraded.
You should buy a PS3 slim (not super slim) with a release number that fits to downgrade procedure cause you cannot use every PS3 slim.
You also need a E3 flasher to do the downgrade. But if you just want to downgrade the console you don’t have to install the E3 flasher permanently.
In Germany you have to pay about 140,- Euros for a PS3 console that meets the requirements mentioned above. And you have to pay about 70,- Euros for the flasher.
August 7, 2014 at 3:55 pm #426545From what I’ve seen used phats are about 200$ and slims about 230$, though the slims are in significantly worse condition it seems like. That’s just for 3.55 OFW.
I’m pretty sure eBay must have an auto-ban for modded PS3s because I can’t find any with CFW pre-installed or modded PS3s period.
I don’t know how much the hardware mod would cost, or where I would go to try to buy the service, as well.
August 7, 2014 at 5:10 pm #426551Note that you can install a Cobra ODE (or any other ODE as long as it can run Multiman) on any PS3 (up to 4.55, or 4.53 on a 4k Super slim), use Multiman 4.50 and install custom songs on an OFW ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” /> That’s what I do. Although all ODEs are blocked on 4.60 OFW for the moment, we have to wait for an update by the devs.
