How long to wait current date for EB-3 visa

I want to apply for an EB-3 visa and I’m wondering how long it takes for the priority date to be current. As far as I know, this is the stage that takes the most time. Also, does the fact that I’m from Jamaica affect it? I’m also curious if it’s realistic to get a job in the hospitality industry?
My friend who is a Jamaican recently received US residency on an EB-3 visa he works exacly in the hospitality industry, and he waited about two years for his priority date to become current. To be honest, I don’t know if it affects this process depending on what country you are from, but it took him exactly that amount of time. I was also thinking about getting US residency and recently saw an article about EB-3 Visa for Jamaicans . It says that this wait can be several months or even years. So it can take a different amount of time for everyone.
