1980’s Songs Prediction
1990’s Songs Predictions
2000’s/2010’s Songs Predictions
Hey guys i started doing something new on my channel where I am going to guess the rock band 4 setlist songs based off a few things:
– songs licensed from fantasia
– Bands who have appeared before
– DLC recently released.
– looking at billboard top rock songs chart for the applicable decades.
I am only listing songs that I think will be in rock band, not songs i necessarily want or like. I thought it would be fun to compare it to the actual setlist when it’s announced.
Here’s my first stab at it taking on

Focus “Hocus Pocus”
I will be of disappoint.

Oh god, I’d better start working on my yodeling.

Problem is the best version (and the one everyone really wants) is a live version that is totally not in a usable state for the game.
I’d totally take a studio recording, either way.
March 31, 2015 at 2:42 pm #441758U2 would be an interesting get, but I don’t think it’s likely. Word is Harmonix at one point was in talks with U2 about either tracks for the platform or a band-specific game a la The Beatles: Rock Band, but between the band’s demands and the disappointing sales of the Beatles game, nothing happened. Still, if that door hasn’t yet been slammed, I could see U2 maybe offering one of their more recent songs as a “testing of the waters”. I wouldn’t hold my breath, but it’s possibly possible.
Since you covered the 2000’s and 2010’s, here are some thoughts on older potential tracks.
Lack of keys admittedly would blunt my enjoyment of these tracks, but it would be cool to see Depeche Mode’s “Enjoy the Silence” and Elton John’s “Rocket Man” come over from Fantasia: Music Evolved. I’m also hoping the appearance of “In Your Eyes” in Fantasia means Peter Gabriel is open to more tracks appearing in music games as well. “Solsbury Hill” would make a great on-disc song for one of the higher difficulty tiers, thanks to its acoustic guitar and unusual time signature. Harmonix could then offer a launch-day DLC pack of “Games without Frontiers”, “Shock the Monkey”, “Sledgehammer”, “Big Time”, “In Your Eyes” and “Steam”. I’m salivating just thinking about it. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
I would almost bet money that we’ll see a Dire Straits song on the RB4 disc. The fact we didn’t see any more Dire Straits in RB3 after “Walk of Life” was absolutely criminal. GH got both “Sultans of Swing” and “Money for Nothing” as on-disc tunes, so we know the masters are available, and either song would be perfect for the returning RB platform.
I would also consider a bet for an Aerosmith track appearing on disc. Now that we know their exclusivity is up and that they’re willing to share their music with Harmonix, we have a treasure trove of tracks just waiting to be exploited. “Back in the Saddle” would have been perfect had we not already gotten it as DLC, but you know, “Same Old Song and Dance” would also fit right in… maybe even as the song for the RB4 intro movie.
I’m less confident in these picks, but I believe some GH-exclusive tracks by RB-available artists are also ripe for the picking, such as Steely Dan’s “Do It Again”, Tom Petty’s “Listen to Her Heart”, Billy Squier’s “Lonely Is the Night”, REM’s “The One I Love”, Blue Öyster Cult’s “Burnin’ for You” and Foreigner’s “Double Vision”. GH got rerecords of those last two, but maybe Harmonix could score the masters like they have for all their Blue Öyster Cult and Foreigner releases so far.
Finally, for some almost-pie-in-the-sky maybes, I think the Doobie Brothers could return. Since RB4 will have harmonies, “Black Water” would make for an excellent group singalong. It would be nice to see the Rolling Stones return as well. “Start Me Up” would also make for a great intro movie, though I suspect Harmonix may not have the checkbook for a band like the Stones right now (and there could be some GH exclusivity involved, given how many Stones tracks have appeared in those games while RB has only ever had one). Then perhaps “Swingtown” or “Jungle Love” by the Steve Miller Band, “Like a Rolling Stone” by Bob Dylan, “Don’t Look Back” by Boston, “Big Love” by Fleetwood Mac and “You Better You Bet” by the Who (I’d pick “Bargain” as the greater contender, but I think “Bargain” is unlikely due to Harmonix having to renege on their promise of offering all of Who’s Next).
So many great potentials…
March 31, 2015 at 5:34 pm #441762i was going to mention Guns N’ Roses as well. Rumors of a new GNR album on the horizon coupled with the fact that Axl seems to have a good relationship with harmonix may see us in a similar situation that found Shackler’s Revenge on the RB2 disc.
March 31, 2015 at 5:36 pm #441764I have this horrible feeling they’ll do Wake Me Up by Avicii and chart the Keys to Guitar during the techno hooks
April 2, 2015 at 9:26 am #441885Knowing that Avenged Sevenfold is 2nd most requested band, I say they will be in the game.

April 4, 2015 at 4:06 pm #442058Considering they were unable to re-up the Peppers tracks from BSSM and the two singles, I would be a little surprised if they had any songs on the RB4 disc. I would love to get some of their earlier stuff for the bass (Nobody Weird Like Me or Fight Like a Brave would be top notch), but I don’t think it’s gonna happen. I’d be surprised if we got ANY tracks from artists who’ve been pulled.
April 16, 2015 at 3:41 pm #442984Updated to include 1980’s tracks. I should have said higher ground by the peppers as well.

Not me, the only time I ever wanted a live version on RB was Frampton
April 19, 2015 at 3:23 pm #443210No love for the live version of “Ridin’ the Storm Out” that we should have gotten?
