As I don’t like doing songs without permission I was wondering c3 could make some document for getting permission from small bands that might not make it to real dlc, As it is really hard to ask if you can do a custom for Rock Band to a small band.

The ‘getting permission’ part is potentially up to their label, if they’re signed. They’ll have plenty of documents for you to sign!

If they’re truly indie, you just email/tweet them and say, “Love your stuff! Rock Band videogame is still alive in a post-product-life user community. (LINK) Would you like to see your songs in the game?” Then you just talk like normal people would!

That said, I’d caution that the window of opportunity is probably closing on this. As soon as RB4 is released, you’ll have to deal with the confusion that, well, their song isn’t *really* going to be in the latest game and, no, there won’t be any money to be made in the RB3 version and, sorry, but even if you’re cool with doing it for free a mere fraction of potential fans will play customs as compared to RB4 so the ‘conversion rate’ actually won’t be all that good…

Not a chance. We’re far from an official entity and we will surely take no responsibility for anybody contacting any band.

is there any benefit to contacting a band about charting? i suppose they could review the drums etc for accuracy…but doing so could open up other problems. has anyone done this? i thought i saw someone did this with some newer 311 tracks or maybe it was a lesser known band!? can’t quite recall
