Saw a wooden guitar controller on ebay that said non-working. Got me thinking about the possibility of replacing the guts of it. Now I’m wondering whats the furthest you’ve gone to mod something in this hobby. Has anyone here made their own wooden guitar for RB? Maybe even with parts from Warmoth?!?! I need to know.

Eh I’ve done a few “mods”.

1- Swapping the solo buttons with the normal buttons. (Purpose is to be able to do HOPOs without strumming in solos with normal buttons)

2- Frankensteining a guitar with multiple broken guitars (This is more of a repair situation…)

    3- Tightening the mustang’s strings.

4- Soldering a jack input for the MPA’s OD button so that you can use a pedal with a keyboard.

5- Soldering a DIP switch on an MPA so that you can use it on PS3 or Wii at wiil.

I may have forgotten some… idk

I use custom built strum bars on my guitar. No more BS magnetic switches on my guitars =)

In fact, my Hoffner bass guitar has a split strum bar so you can mimic the playstyle of 2 finger picking. Still getting use to it but it performs very well.

Fret swapping is as far as I can go. <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” /> I’m very happy with the results though!

I’d love to give my guitars a custom paint job one day though.

Huge fan of the microphone mod, I have three of them like this

The latest mod for me was replacing the warped plastic ION rocker heads with beautiful bouncy mesh pads.

Not a RB hardware mod but a mod for my Alesis drum kit. The snare kept cutting out and it turned out to be a pinched wire which was a design “flaw” in where excessive/hard use would eventually pinch this wire to almost split. In my case eventually it did split so I had to modify the snare casing to accommodate a better wire routing solution and installed a new piezo while it was already open.

Been bulletproof ever since. *finds wood to knock on*

Whoa, if I knew this mod existed I probably would’ve held off on getting the Nitro Mesh kit.

I still have my Ion’s. I wonder if I should do this anyway…

Well, I ended up winning the bid for the non working wooden Logitech guitar. with shipping it came to like $70 or something. I’ll try to repair it and post what becomes of it.

    -Total cost was under $50

    -Looks awesome

    -Massively improved hit detection

    -Almost completely silent

    Totally worth the effort.

thanks Prez – where did you order the mesh heads from ?

I see them for $8 each on amazon.ca

i have always wanted to take the innards from a RB guitar and put them into a real electric guitar – might get around to it one day.

So the Logitech guitar came in today. It powered up, synced to my 360, all buttons worked. So its fully functional. Just has a crack in the body that I can fill, some posing tuning pegs I can replace, and a loose whammy bar Ill figure out what to do with. So all in all Im stoked. Only cost me around $70 with shipping. Im seeing them being sold for over $200

Yes, I will, maybe after the repairs. This was the listing though.. Pictures are legit, exactly what I got.

It seems as if it has an issue after all. Some sort of connection issue. The button flashes almost constantly (while working just fine) and eventually shuts itself off pausing the game, Turn it back on and this continues. Brand new batteries, Not sure where to look, havent taken it apart yet. I read somewhere to replace some capacitors. Anyone on here have some tips or troubleshooting steps.

Very cool! I bet that feels nice in your hands when you get it all working. The plastic guitars are so light!

Yep, Amazon. 8″ muffle heads exactly like in the video, the only other purchase was black tape. I followed the video pretty closely (I used a slightly different steel strapping, just had some in the tool box) and it works great.
