C3X WORLD TOUR: WEEK FOURTEEN
TOUR 1 FINALEThis is it! The end of the first C3X World Tour! It’s been quite a journey and we’ve seen some amazing work from the C3 community that put on some excellent shows! A huge thank you to all the authors and organizers who contributed to this Tour and of course a huge thank you to all you who supported us every show of the way!
You’re probably asking yourself several things: What’s next? Will there be another tour? Will C3X continue in a different way? Will this be the end? Will Bansheeflyer actually get around to responding to my PM? All very good questions and while I can’t give an official answer on the future of C3X yet, I will say this: this is not the end!
So please enjoy tonight’s event and rock on!
OPENERS
Tonight we open up with a melting pot of several bands by several authors. To start off, Rocker1999 has the stage with a very important announcement. We’ll let him say this in his own words but we also want to wish Rocker the best with his shift in focus and that we’re glad he will continue to provide customs to C3…albeit in a different way.

This is probably the toughest thing I’m going to have to do, but with this chart, I would like to make an announcement for my future with C3.With this song, I am announcing my retirement as a C3 author. I’m not leaving C3, just stepping down as an author.I felt this is a perfect time to announce it, as this is the Tour 1 Finale, and the song fits, as I feel this is a lucky ending for my authoring path.I still plan to work with the authors on here, mostly in the audio side of things, such as mixing and mastering for Rock Band standards. That’s what I personally love doing, and I would prefer to focus on that more because that’s what I want to do for a living.I’ve made so many great friends that I work alongside with, and I’ve even gone so far as to do what I really love for this game, and I want to continue doing that.I will be making a thread in the near future about opening my mixing and mastering services for Rock Band for free, so stay tuned for that.I do plan on releasing one more custom fairly soon, as that custom has a bit of history behind it, dating all the way back to 2009.I would like to thank some people for getting me where I am nowTo my friends on here: FUGGNUTZ, TheWay123, GreenPanda12, VreyIsGrey, BansheeFlyer, TheSheepQueen, i0brendan0, and many others, thank you for helping me and letting me help with your customs. Art of Noise – Beat Box (Diversion One)

I am a frequent TV archives watcher. I seek them, collect them, come back to them sometimes. In 1984, the first channel on French TV launched a program called H.I.P.H.O.P., the first program in the country to be fully dedicated to Hip Hop culture. It frequently featured dancers but also musical guests such as Kurtis Blow, Herbie Hancock, and also… Art Of Noise! This song, Beat Box happened to be frequently used as background music for the dance lesson sequence. This song was not really intended for breakdancing though. Beat Box was an experimentation to incorporate various sounds into a beat played by Alan White of Yes. It also features a section consisting of a small snippet of Rosanna by Toto, so in a way… Free DLC!
Art of Noise – Close (To the Edit)

Before being that title, Close (To The Edit) was Beat Box (Diversion Two). You can clearly hear similarities between the two songs, though this one is definitely more pop-oriented. It’s dominated by the sound of a Volkswagen Golf starting up, which forms the song’s melody. You may also recognize the “Hey!” sample, which has been re-used in another custom of mine, Firestarter by The Prodigy.
Art of Noise – Moments in Love

I feel like I repeat myself even though I’ve never said it here: Moments In Love is a revolution now. It sounds incredibly similar to the music you hear nowadays (It especially reminds me of Katy Perry’s Dark Horse), whether it is from the use of an almost sub bass, the sound of the drums or the voice sample which is a more common trope than you’d think.
Ted Leo and the Pharmacists – Under the Hedge

I’ve got to admit, I can’t really call myself a Ted Leo fan so much as I am a fan of this particular album. “The Tyranny of Distance” is in my opinion one of the greatest albums of the past 20 years and yet, I hardly ever see it talked about. Really underrated as far as I’m concerned. I honestly need to dive deeper into his catalogue to see if his other albums hold a candle to this one, but for now I’ll just gush about this. This song has been one of my favorites for nearly a decade. I started this custom about a year ago, so it feels good to finally release it. If you’re not already a fan and decide to give it a try, I sincerely hope you enjoy it! I’ve definitely got plans to do more Ted Leo in the future, with an overwhelming focus on this album in particular.
Mitski – Your Best American Girl

I discovered Mitski when I heard one of her songs on the show Adventure Time (“Francis Forever”, already available as a custom). But a friend of mine and fellow fan of the show made a mission of further acquainting me with her music. She showed me a very interesting music video — the one for this song — that really gave me a sense of who Mitski was as an artist. The song itself deals with her frustrations of trying to date American men and overcome a cultural barrier. In the video, she observes a traditional “American” couple, or at least her perception of one, which nurtures her desire for a similar relationship. But with no one around her to mimic the increasingly hot and heavy make-out session the other couple is having, she has no other options but to use… well, it’s not as bad as it sounds.
Fall Out Boy – Chicago is So Two Years Ago

I never listened to Fall Out Boy much during their early years. Perhaps I just wasn’t the right age when they first hit it big with “Sugar, We’re Going Down”. Nowadays, nearly all of my current friends seemed to have listened to them when they were younger, so I’ve become more aware of their extended catalogue of hits. But the first song of theirs to truly impress me was “Dead on Arrival”, included on the Rock Band 1 disc. After discovering the song “Tell That Mick He Just Made My List of Things to Do Today”, available as a custom song in the C3 database, I decided I needed to check out the rest of their first album. It’s definitely my favorite of theirs, and this song is just one of the standouts. When I first heard it, I thought it sounded like an anime opening sung in English. Just try to picture that when you listen to it.
Rammstein – Radio

This was almost done by popular demand, but mostly because I am a huge fan of this song, definitely my favorite from the album. It sounds very reminiscent of 90s Rammstein, which doesn’t go unappreciated, and has a simple yet effective riff.
Michael Jackson – Speed Demon

Speed Demon simply is my favorite Michael Jackson song, so it is an honor to be the one to author it. Most of the fun resides in the bass chart, which is played, believe it or not, on an actual bass. The song was inspired when Michael was driving to the studio and got pulled over by an officer, who knew such a common thing could inspire such an incredibly underrated song?
Missing Persons – Destination Unknown

One of those “Oh, that song” moments, “Destination Unknown” was released in 1982 on Spring Session M, an anagram of the band’s name. The song saw moderate success, peaking at #42 of the Bilboard Hot 100 where it sat for 13 weeks.
The song’s inspiring lyrical content consists of uncertainty about the future, not knowing what lies ahead but willing to keep on whatever that may be – something I felt fitting for the tour’s finale. An easy song to listen to and easier to play, the only real tricky parts are some drum fills by the talented but horribly underutilized Terry Bozzio. It makes an excellent warmup or party song!

Simon & Garfunkel – Bridge over Troubled Water

Hearing them talk about their collaborations after the fact, and hearing how they bicker over the littlest details when someone convinces them to collaborate again, it seems a miracle that Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel created even one studio album together, let alone five. But somehow they did, with every album seemingly better, richer than the last. The first song on the final album, both titled “Bridge over Troubled Water”, was their magnum opus, the song that showcased, and still showcases, Simon’s writing and Garfunkel’s singing at their absolute, stratospheric best. I’m not ashamed to say I tear up a little every time I hear “Bridge”, and I am glad Simon & Garfunkel stayed together long enough to give us this masterpiece.
CO-HEADLINER: QUEEN AT LIVE AID
Tonight we present the first of our two headliners, the one and only Queen! Who else to author the full legendary Live Aid performance than TheSheepQueen, including an impressive venue consisting of a shot-by-shot recreation of the performance!
Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody (At Live Aid)

Needless to introduce Bohemian Rhapsody, it’s even on-disc. This version is quite shorter as it only spans the verses and choruses plus the guitar solo before the operatic section (Oh, the operatic section yeah!).
Queen – Radio Ga Ga (At Live Aid)

This song arrives right after Bohemian Rhapsody, almost giving it a logical feel, completely (in my opinion) reshaping the meaning of Bo Rha into an introduction to the show. You’ve seen the musically complex world of Queen, but now you can see how much chill and cool they can be!
Queen – Vocal Improvisation

Can you imagine being so talented that ONE sustained note is dubbed the “Note Heard Around The World”? This short piece is probably the most famous part of the show. Freddie delivers impressive vocals despite being sick at the time of performing, almost as if the God of sicknesses (if there is one, there has to be one) graced him for this brief historical moment.
Queen – Hammer to Fall (At Live Aid)

It seems many people prefer this version over the studio version. It’s more dynamic, raw and most importantly faster. It also features a bonus guitar solo, which is (according to pre-release feedback) the hardest part of the guitar chart in the whole concert.
Queen – Crazy Little Thing Called Love (At Live Aid)

This custom caused a huge change in my authoring method. About halfway into the song, a nasty feedback kicks in just before Brian May’s second solo. The first audio source I used unfortunately had this nasty feedback, so I had to look for a better one. Fortunately though, the version provided with the Queen Rock Montreal DVD significantly reduces the feedback!
Queen – We Will Rock You (At Live Aid)

There is a very small number of songs where you can safely say “EVERYONE knows this”. There’s Seven Nation Army, Barbie Girl, Despacito… To an extent? But this one, oh man this one. Play it to a baby and he will have already heard it. We Will Rock You is essentially the ultimate crowd participation song. In this context, it of course takes its full meaning, even though it’s shortened significantly, but you could call that a small price to pay for salvation, and by salvation I mean an extended guitar solo, way more difficult than the studio version!
Queen – We Are the Champions (At Live Aid)

Do you know about the Mandela effect? This observation occurs when a vast number of people remember something that didn’t happen. Whether it is time travellers screwing up or the reptilians brainwashing us, lots of people are convinced We Are The Champions ends with “OF THE WOOOOORLD” like the other choruses. It doesn’t, in the studio version at least. Due to the Big Rock Ending, you don’t have to hold the entire note, but you can now let your vocal chords live their biggest fantasy and let these three iconic words out, in a triumphant conclusion to the show.

IMPORTANT BEFORE PLAYING, THIS APPLIES TO ALL THE INDIVIDUAL SONGS: This is a shot by shot (With RB3 capacities) replica of the original concert. Due to the length of shots, it is recommended you get the festival venue in order to avoid awkward disappearing in the background and walking into the crowd. Here it is, finally, what is considered the biggest concert of all time, Queen’s legendary performance at Live Aid in 1985. Is This The World We Created is not included as it was performed later by Freddie and Brian.

You read that right folks, 10 years ago saw the release of The Beatles: Rock Band and tonight we pay tribute by adding more Beatles to your collection that didn’t quite make it to the game. We opened this tour with The Beatles – it seems only fitting we close with them!

From Me to You’ is a song by the English rock band the Beatles that was released in April 1963 as their third single. It was written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon. The song was the Beatles’ first number 1 hit on what became the official UK singles chart but the second, after ‘Please Please Me’, on most of the other singles charts published in the UK. ‘From Me to You’ failed to make an impact in the United States at the time of its initial release. The theme of “Hold On” is emotional fragility, its lyrics state that when you’re alone in the world you just have to “hold on.” Lennon tries to assure himself that he and wife Yoko Ono have the strength to overcome their challenges, and if he holds on, “it’s gonna be all right” and “we’re gonna win the fight.” Lennon explicitly namechecks himself and Yoko Ono, but towards the end of the song Lennon expands the subject to encompass the whole world, singing that peace will be achievable when everyone will “see the light” and realize that we are all “one.”
“Hold On” features guest appearances by Ringo Starr, David Bowie and the Cookie Monster.
Paul McCartney & Wings – Listen to What the Man SaidAuthored by MrPrezidentSpecial thanks to AJFOne23.The optimistic love song “Listen..” was recorded during the famous ’75 New Orleans sessions for Venus and Mars, and became a popular concert piece for the band.McCartney said of Tom Scott’s impact on the track, “Someone said [famous jazz musician] ‘Tom Scott lives near here.’ We said, yeah, give him a ring, see if he turns up, and he turned up within half an hour! There he was, with his sax, and he sat down in the studio playing through. The engineer was recording it. We kept all the notes he was playing casually. He came in and I said ‘I think that’s it.’ He said ‘Did you record that?’ I said yes, and we listened to it back. No one could believe it, so he went out and tried a few more, but they weren’t as good. He’d had all the feel on this early take, the first take.”
Ringo Starr – No No SongAuthored by MrPrezident“No No Song” was originally written by country singer Hoyt Axton and his partner David Jackson. Ringo sings this with more than a bit of irony, he was far from sober at the time. In interviews he would describe it as an anti-drug song, its subject facing regret of waking up alone on the floor. However Ringo was a long way from giving up his own habits, and did not seek treatment for over a full decade later. He described his years of addiction as being a terribly lonely time of his life.AND THERE WE HAVE IT FOLKS!!! Wasn’t that an awesome show?! Thank you all again for your support, this would not have been as successful without you!That’s all we have for Tour 1…or is it? An awesome end to an awesome tour. I thank all my fellow authors for a lot of great additions to my collection, and I thank everyone else who downloaded our songs and joined in on the fun and celebrations. I especially thank the tour founders for sparking some motivation. I have completed more songs this year than in any year since I started authoring, and almost doubled my total output!
THANK YOU, EVERYONE!
I’m really proud of what this community has accomplished so far with C3X. Everyone has been putting in so much effort into their work, and it really shows. Like Fuji, this year has been a personal triumph when it comes to my custom chart output. I’ve already released a good amount more than last year and 2019 is far from over! I hope everyone is satisfied with what I’ve put out so far, and you can count on more before the year’s end!
Way to go out with a bang a boom and drop the mike. Thanks to all the authors for hours of pleasure.
