Can I get some advice about getting a new kick pedal?

My kick pedal finally broke after 8 years of on and off rock band drumming and I’m looking to get a replacement. After searching around, I can’t seem to find many options besides stock pedals or DIY projects. It seems as if the only non-stock, non-DIY option I have left is the destroyer pedal, which seems over the top for my needs. Could anyone point me in the direction of a cheap, durable 3rd party option?

I’m guessing the one you broke was the all plastic one? I went through two of those and ended up snagging the stock rock band 2 pedal with the metal plate for 20 bucks on ebay. Hasn’t broken on me yet, way more durable than the all plastic ones. They have a bunch there last time i checked, shouldn’t be too hard to find one for cheap.

If you can find one of these for cheap, go for it, but they honestly break just as easily as the plastic RB1 ones. Having a paper thin metal plate in the middle of an otherwise all plastic foot pedal doesn’t really make much of a difference. Making one yourself is actually pretty easy too.

The metal plate actually helps I’ve noticed. I once commented on how his RB2 pedal has survived this long and he said the pedal broke a while ago. The plate is holding it together.
That being said he got the RB4 kit and the pedal and the plate broke on him. We think it’s the design on the metal that caused it to snap because it was a rippled sheet rather than a stamped sheet.

The one I broke was a Block Head Rhythm Maker. I think I actually broke an rb2 one in a month of playing (I got a new kit because I moved to Xbox 360 from ps2), but I’m not sure since I bought the kit used online. I don’t remember there being a metal plate in the middle however.
I think I’m going to go to the hardware store, pick up something metal and duct tape it to the bottom to keep it together, thanks for the advice though.

Hell yeah. I’m all about that cheap DIY fix. I’m still clinging onto the shattered remains of my second metal plated RB2 pedal using duct tape and butter knives. It’s snapped cleanly in 4 places now. The first one’s base actually ended up snapping right in half after applying a similar fix, so that one was a lost cause.
