question about MIDI files

I know nothing about authoring, and don’t plan to start, but I am wondering: are the tempo maps somehow saved into the MIDI file? If so, I could easily see using the MIDI files from customs, to modify and play on player pianos (and similar mechanical instruments) alongside the isolated vocals.
The tempo maps are most assuredly embedded into the MIDI file, so theoretically, you could definitely do that!! One of the myriad of weird unintended benefits of Rock Band and similar games existing.
Personally, this kind of stuff always interests me. Stuff you can do with Rock Band’s format and files that doesn’t really have anything to do with it’s intended use.

For pro guitar/bass, you’d have to translate the frets (velocity) into notes. That would require a program.
Like EOF, which can save pro guitar/bass arrangements into a MIDI file that saves the actual pitches (ie. to use in a rhythm game like Synthesia).
How are the vocal tracks saved? If I played them in MIDI sheet-music software, would they be read as swartzandos/portamentos between the notes, or just a series of notes?

Then where in the data for a song does it say whether a note is a slide or a non-slide? Surely there must be a way to extract that data and recombine it with the MIDI data, right?
If not, I’m OK. It would just be interesting.
Of course there is a way. If you bother to open the MIDI file in REAPER you’ll see everything that is present in the file.
But you’re going to have to put a lot more effort on your part other than asking questions to which the answers are clear if you want to accomplish anything with these files.
It’s all there. Grab the tools that everyone else uses and have fun.

Slides are created with a lyric of “+” at the same time as the next midi note. The notes in between simply don’t exist. You’d have to add a midi pitch bend and lengthen the previous note.
