Title explains it. What were you guys hoping to see in Rock Band: Japan? Popular, or obscure. Just try and make sure it’d be fun in a Rock Band setting.

I’m so annoyed, there were multiple full band The Pillows .rba files on Scorehero that would’ve been amazing to update and rb3conize but all the links were long dead when I found them.

I’ve been toying around with making a “Not J-Pop Pack” if I wasn’t working two jobs, writing a Ph.D. thesis and having to train playing in 2 non-Rock-Band bands. And if I wasn’t unbearably bad at charting. So I won’t mind at all if you decide you happen to like any of these enough.

Ded Chaplin – Rock the Nation

Fairly standard 80’s style hard rock / glam metal, except for the fact that the rhythm section consists of two future jazz musicians and it really shows.

Hiromi Uehara – Return of the Kung-fu World Champion

Some actual jazz. Only three instruments but at least none of those have any boring moments. The heavy emphasis on monotimbral keyboard-riffs makes this easier to play and chart than most of her piano-based stuff.

              Sigh – The Transfiguration Fear

A band that’s famous in extreme metal circles for lot’s of twists on the genre’s conventions. My personal favourite for having the best all-around keyboard work in metal.

Church of Misery – Shotgun Boogie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7eP-DFReyA Because the really extensive Japanese “high energy stoner rock” scene absolutely needs representation and they have a special place in my heart for being one of the absolute best live acts I’ve seen. And Boris is of course way too mainstream for my pack. :c00l:

Kyoto Jazz Massive – The Brightness of These Days

A great nu-jazz chill-out track. Fun to play on everything except guitar, which is missing.

Quest for Blood feat. Yukihiro Isso – Noise (or any song from their 2008 self-titled album, really) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPUPAkP12QM Some of the craziest shit you’ll ever hear. A fusion of black metal and Japanese traditional folk through free jazz sensibilities. Likely candidate to be the most hated band in music gaming since Abnormality and Made in Mexico but I love them for their wild unpredictability.
