There was a period of time after the Beatles and before disco that had many great bands putting out some all-time classics. The thing these songs have in common is that they have a certain vibe to them that reflect the time period really well that Wikipedia calls “Psychedelic pop.” As it currently stands, this will be an 11 song mega-pack:
From ws54:
Kicks – Paul Revere & the Raiders
Baby Blue – Badfinger
Wild Thing – The Troggs
Hurdy Gurdy Man – Donovan
Crimson and Clover – Tommy James and the Shondells
Listen People – Herman’s Hermits
Laugh Laugh – Beau Brummels
Long Cool Woman – Hollies
From Farottone:
Do You Believe in Magic – Lovin’ Spoonful
??? Mr Tamborine Man – Byrds
From Clintilona:
Summer in the City – Lovin’ Spoonful
From drummerrockband:
Venus – Shocking Blue
ALL of these artists will all be making their Rock Band debut!
Here are some other well known songs that would fit the theme well, but it appears they will be for another time.
Mama Told Me Not To Come – 3 Dog Night (Partially completed, but I won’t be finishing this for this pack.)
Good Thing – Paul Revere & the Raiders
Magic Carpet Ride, Born to be Wild, Rock Me – Steppenwolf
White Room – Cream (Yakyro and jdcow45 had some of this done. Don’t know the status though)
Grass Roots – Let’s Live For Today
Hair – Cowsills
(We Ain’t got) Nothin’ Yet – Blues Magoos (Great Bass groove)
Time of the Season – Zombies (would take a keys expert)
Itchycoo Park – Small Faces
Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood – Animals (Yakyro mentioned he had G/B done)
This pack is scheduled for Feb 21. If it is ok with everyone else, I’d like this pack to have the entire week set aside for it.

Summer in the City – Lovin’ Spoonful
No idea if I would be able to do any of this ever, but I will say that I am giving a +1 to wanting these two, as well as “Do You Believe In Magic?”

Awesome.
Magic Carpet Ride, Born to be Wild, Rock Me – Steppenwolf
White Room – Cream (Yakyro and jdcow45 had some of this done. Don’t know the status though)
Time of the Season – Zombies (would take a keys expert)
Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood – Animals (Yakyro mentioned he had G/B done)
Looking forward to these. I have to say, I gave up on Time of the Season not just because it’s tough on keys but because at the end rendering the two organs in game would be a bit confusing. Such a shame though.
Sunshine of your Love – Cream (GH3 conversion of “Sunshine” is a good cover and would be ok)
Already taken and part of another pack. Not the cover version though, so if you want to do the cover, that’s ok.
October 3, 2013 at 9:02 am #407231“Do You Believe In Magic?”So good. On my to-do list.
October 27, 2013 at 7:16 am #408544I’ve updated the OP. I swapped out 3 Dog Night for the Donovan song instead, although I may circle back to it again as a single sometime.
I’d really like to get White Room as part of this pack. I’d be happy to take over the project, or help out in any way that I can if the others have lost interest.

This was my second choice for Lovin’ Spoonful. Would you be interested in including this song as part of this pack? We can schedule it for whenever it works for you.

Sure, absolutely.
November 2, 2013 at 10:54 am #408783The OP was updated with 5 more songs for a total of 9 for this pack. The songs from this era are usually easy to chart. They are taking me about half the time of the other songs I’ve done.
I’d still like others to join in and contribute a song.

If I find something accurate I’m definitely gonna do it.
November 4, 2013 at 1:51 am #408820Don’t know if Big Star is considered psychedelic rock, but this’d be a good fit.

Yes, this song fits right into the theme and is a great choice. The version that you linked to is not the original version though. I think it is rerecorded. If possible, and if it coincides with what you want to do, try to find the original version. This link has a remastered version:
Except for the harmonies mixed slightly different it is pretty close. I think this is the original:
, or at least it was the version released in the US as a single. Hope you can do this song.

I absolutely LOVE this song and it is going to be done one way or another, if not by you then by me. I’m not sure if it fits the theme perfectly, but we can stretch the theme a little if you’d like to do it. Maybe we call the pack Hits of the 60’s and 70’s or something.

I actually was gonna do this at one point with somebody else as a colab for a Posies and Friends track pack, which would’ve been The Posies, Big Star, a song from REM, and a song from The Minus 5. Basically, it was gonna be acts that have been associated with The Posies at one point. (You’ve probably never heard of the Posies, un less you’re a Big Star/Power Pop fan, but they’ve actually done a lot in the power pop genre.) But sadly, they never really responded to the offer.
January 1, 2014 at 11:21 pm #411487Here’s an update on this project:
I have the 8 songs listed in the OP completed and I will be putting them up for playtesting soon. If anyone wanted to contribute more songs to the pack then now’s the time.
I’m thinking Jan 31 or Feb 7 for these. I’d like to have the whole week dedicated to this pack if people don’t mind.
